Following our identity design and annual review for the Institute of Neurology, we partnered with their communications and building management teams to develop an interactive playbook that introduces users to the building and encourages a positive, engaging environment for both work and visitors.

Designed for community, collaboration and sustainability

The playbook was co-designed with the ION-DRI team to shape the language and content in a way that fosters community, builds a culture of collaboration, promotes sustainability and ensures inclusivity.

Our goal was to create a guide that goes beyond simple instructions, one that reflects the Centre’s values and improves people’s experience.

A comprehensive guide

The playbook provides a complete overview of the Centre’s facilities including:

  • Workspaces and core services
  • Shared lab spaces
  • Public areas and outpatient services

We also aim to integrate the digital guide into the building’s physical signage and information systems, creating a genuinely interactive environment for all visitors.

Detailed information for each space

Each section of the building has its own dedicated page explaining:

  • Its location, purpose and cost
  • Who manages the area and how its accessed
  • Details about all the equipment available.

The guide also includes direct links to the staff responsible for managing each space ensuring easy access to support and information.

Making the playbook a living resource

In addition to floor-by-floor guides, we are developing sections for stories, help centres and idea-sharing spaces, making the playbook a dynamic and evolving resource for the ION-DRI community.

The stories, illustrated by our creative associate Stephen Collins, have been used across banners, hoardings, wall graphics and social media, adding warmth and personality to the Centre, both during construction and in its daily use.
