Since receiving its royal charter in 2021, the Royal College of Podiatry (RCPod) - founded in 1912 as the National Society of Chiropodists - has been evolving to meet the needs of its members and society as a key healthcare profession in the twenty-first century. We have been working closely with their leadership team to guide this evolution, combining strategic thinking and identity design to launch a new identity built for a growing digital-first membership.
Our partnership developed over three stages. We began by developing an updated strategy document that defines their purpose, mission and values, alongside a public-facing call to action.
We worked with their strategy team and technical specialists to co-design an interactive career development mapping tool for and with NHS England. This visualises progression pathways and highlights skills, knowledge and growth opportunities for students as well as their new and existing members across different professional levels and environments. We used the structure of the foot as a metaphorical device for 21st century podiatry, “Like the bones in a foot, each career stage supports and builds on the others to create a strong and interconnected podiatry profession.”

Most recently, we carried out a strategic review of their communications and brand identity and developed a new logo, design guide and modern font and color palette. This identity refresh also included the visual design of their new online magazine and other key touchpoints.

If you are a forward-thinking leader exploring how science, health, education and ecology can use design to bridge between technical knowledge and social impact we’d love to hear from you.
