Sue is the Director of Collections and Archives in Typography of the Design Star Doctoral Training Centre in Reading. She was Head of the Department of Typography from 1997 to 2007 and Head of the School of Arts and Communication Design from 2004 to 2007. From 2007 to 2011 she served as Dean of the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.Sue's research interests include analysis and description of graphic language, in particular the relationship between prescription and practice in everyday documents, typographic design for children and information design in public service.Sue is currently working in collaboration with Design Science on the following research projects:
