March 2022
Following our work on MetaboLight with Dr Subhabrata Mitra and the neonatal team at UCL’s EGA Institute for Women’s Health, we are collaborating again to develop a website and communications platform that aims to help families cope with the trauma and anxieties that arise when their newborn child suffers from encephalopathy and seizures.
Despite all the support that the NHS provides for children, parents often feel overwhelmed and alone. The resource aims to let parents know what to expect, providing a sense of connection with other people who share the experience alongside links to supportive organisations and peer groups.
Once established, we hope that the service will provide a reassuring environment that reduces parents’ feeling of isolation as well as practical support at every stage in their newborn’s early life.
